Last Knockings

Whiteout

This is the last trip of 2019 – small on time but big on wellbeing.

Over the last six week the focus has been on a new job plus the weekends have been filled with decorating the extension – time spent holding a brush rather than a rod!

But for a few hours at the end of the year the tables have been turned.

The venue is the estate lake as usual but this time travelling very light, casting frequently with zigs and small PVA mesh bags to locate the carp.

Well that was the plan – the mist rolled in and the lake was a whiteout – could not see passed the rod tips or a show of any description.

Fortunately I had previously found some spots – Plumbing New Depths – and so out came the distance sticks.

With a heron for company, the first swim (Beaches) produce a couple of liners, and then what I thought was a take, only for a grebe to surface in the fog.

I ditched the zigs early as I thought the low pressure would see the carp feeding on the bottom.

Both rods were Ronnie rigs but one baited with a Secret Sauce pop-up and a standard orange Baitworks. Regular lead clips and 3oz bombs.

The second (Two Logs) was equally quiet and so the final cast of 2019 was from the Stage Stand swim where all three of my captures have come from.

Eat Sleep Carp Repeat

Unfortunately there was to be no end of year hurrahs as the alarms were mute, much like the lake life under a blanket of thick fog. So ended the this session.

The 2019 season is dead long live 2020.

Tightlines and future good times.
